One of my favourite times of year when the cherry blossoms explode from the many trees that line the streets and grow in the gardens Vancouver. It is a time that is observed and celebrated in many places in the world and is much appreciated after our long rainy and grey winters. The colours of pastel pinks and whites bloom amongst the many trees and contrast beautifully with the grey or blue sky. The soft petals blanket the ground and are stirred up into alluring cyclones on windy days. It is also my family’s yearly tradition to attend the Vandusen’s Cherry Blossom Festival. A festival celebrates the beautiful flower but also appreciation of the Japans culture and long observance to this special time of year. It is during one of these festivals my sister and I came across one of the beautiful shops at the festival featuring a colourful array of Yukata’s and Kimonos….
